The planetary vertical shaft concrete mixer is an industrial forced-action mixer distinguished by its unique “planetary” motion. This mechanism drives the mixing tools to rotate around both the central axis and their own axes, ensuring an exceptionally thorough and homogenous blend. This design eliminates any dead zones within the mixing chamber, making it particularly effective for difficult-to-mix materials such as high-performance and precast concrete, refractory mixes, ceramics, and glass compounds.

Working Principle

The mixer’s action is driven by a central planetary gearbox. This system powers mixing arms, or “stars,” to perform two simultaneous motions:

  1. Revolution: The arms revolve around the central vertical shaft, covering the entire circumference of the stationary mixing pan.
  2. Rotation: The blades attached to each arm rotate at high speed on their own independent axes.

This compound, counter-current planetary motion ensures complete 3D mixing coverage. Every particle of aggregate, cement, water, and additive is subjected to intense shearing, folding, and turning, breaking down clumps and achieving homogeneity upwards of 99% in a short cycle time. Integrated scrapers on the arms and pan floor prevent material buildup, guaranteeing no mixing dead zones.
